Find out about MagnaView's short, though interesting, history.
MagnaView was set up in 2003 as a cooperation between self-employed consultant Erik-Jan van der Linden and Professor Jack van Wijk’s visualization group at Eindhoven University of Technology.
While being involved in various management information and nationwide benchmarking projects, van der Linden noticed that the return of (huge) investments in data analysis sharply increase if results are presented to users in a strong visual and interactive way.
Van Wijk’s group had developed so-called Cushioned Squarified Treemaps and has applied this in the enormously successful application SequoiaView, which has up to now been downloaded by some 900.000 users. SequoiaView is regarded as one of the major successes in the field of information visualization.
Cooperation of van der Linden and van Wijk led to MagnaView. MagnaView developed its own combination of treemaps and traditional business graphics, which was granted a Registered Community Design by the European Union. A paper on this combination was accepted for presentation at InfoVis 2006, showing its innovative power.
MagnaView B.V. is supported by the Innovation lab of the Eindhoven University of Technology, Incubator3+ and Brainport.
